Chilton Mission Slat Bed
Our Chilton line of mission-style furniture follows the heritage of the Arts & Crafts movement, using traditional joinery and craftsmanship to build solid wood furniture designed to last for generations. Using time-tested techniques, our handcrafted mission line is durable and beautiful with details often overlooked in today's rushed world. You may not see the time and talent invested in each mortise and tenon joint, but you will feel the difference in the strength of the bed. Crafted in quartersawn oak.

Product Details:
This bed accommodates a standard mattress and foundation. Solid quartersawn white oak construction, 4 hardwood dovetailed bed slats set into metal receivers and enforced with support feet (see image).
Please note: White Oak can can have varying looks. Many distinctive patterns emerge including figure flakes, fine lines, pin stripes, leafy grains and watery figures. White Oak that is quartersawn will produce dramatic rays and flecks or flakes that are popular in Mission style furniture or antiques.

A Standard bed frame typically comes with 3-5 "slats", or pieces of wood that lay across the side rails of the bed frame. These slats are designed to hold a traditional box spring, or foundation, which sits under a mattress to provide support.
A Platform bed has either plywood or sufficient slats running down the length of the bed frame to directly support a mattress without the need for a box spring.
Platform beds typically cost a little more than Standard ones, but they avoid the need to purchase a box spring and allow for a more modern, lower profile look.

Chilton offers nation-wide white glove delivery service, which means that your furniture will be carefully blanket wrapped, transported to your home, carried inside, and assembled, as needed. Your charge is a flat rate based upon delivery distance from Maine, and includes an unlimited number of pieces (a particularly good value for larger orders).
