Acadia Live Edge Bed (Cherry)
Chilton's Acadia Collection is crafted in Maine from solid cherry, walnut or spalted maple. Each piece features clean minimalist lines with a contrasting unfinished edge from the bark line of the tree. This raw "live edge" ensures that each piece is both dynamic and unique.
Inspired by George Nakashima, this bed marries a modern aesthetic with a reverence for the tree from which it was hewn. Also available as a stand-alone frame without headboard. Headboard height and shape vary from piece to piece based on the individual characteristics of the wood. This bed is a platform bed that only requires a mattress. A foundation is not necessary.

Platform consists of 12 hardwood slats 4-3/4" wide by 3/4" thick. They are spaced 1-1/2" apart, separated by wood spacers. Distance measurement is consistent with major mattress warranty standards.
Please note that when your new cherry wood furniture arrives, it may be lighter in color than the wood shown in the accompanying photo. New cherry wood is initially a pale, straw color and gradually darkens to a beautiful amber over time with exposure to light.

A Standard bed frame typically comes with 3-5 "slats", or pieces of wood that lay across the side rails of the bed frame. These slats are designed to hold a traditional box spring, or foundation, which sits under a mattress to provide support.
A Platform bed has either plywood or sufficient slats running down the length of the bed frame to directly support a mattress without the need for a box spring.
Platform beds typically cost a little more than Standard ones, but they avoid the need to purchase a box spring and allow for a more modern, lower profile look.

Chilton offers nation-wide white glove delivery service, which means that your furniture will be carefully blanket wrapped, transported to your home, carried inside, and assembled, as needed. Your charge is a flat rate based upon delivery distance from Maine, and includes an unlimited number of pieces (a particularly good value for larger orders).
