Shaker Arch Bed
Chilton's modern version of a classic Shaker design. Built to stand the test of time; this bed is as solid as Mount Katahdin's granite. This bed can be made as a standard bed which accommodates a box spring and mattress or as a platform bed which only needs a mattress. Your choice. Crafted in Maine using solid cherry.
Chilton was once again honored to be able to showcase our furniture in an episode of the National TV series Tree House Masters as seen on Animal Planet. This project was closer to home as a they built a beautiful lake side tree house in Monmouth, ME. This project featured two of our beds, the Penobscot Sleigh and the Shaker Arch. We are hoping they are providing a restful night sleep after a day of play and adventure in the canopy of the forest. You can see the full 2018 episode here.

Solid cherry construction. Reinforced inset metal hardware to secure rails with bed posts. This bed accommodates a standard mattress and foundation and includes 5 hardwood slats 5"W x 3/4"D and 3 support feet. This bed is also available as a platform bed, with slats running head to toe, that only requires a mattress.
Please note that when your new cherry wood furniture arrives, it may be lighter in color than the wood shown in the accompanying photo. New cherry wood is initially a pale, straw color and gradually darkens to a beautiful amber over time with exposure to light.

A Standard bed frame typically comes with 3-5 "slats", or pieces of wood that lay across the side rails of the bed frame. These slats are designed to hold a traditional box spring, or foundation, which sits under a mattress to provide support.
A Platform bed has either plywood or sufficient slats running down the length of the bed frame to directly support a mattress without the need for a box spring.
Platform beds typically cost a little more than Standard ones, but they avoid the need to purchase a box spring and allow for a more modern, lower profile look.
White Glove Delivery
Chilton offers nation-wide white glove delivery service, which means that your furniture will be carefully blanket wrapped, transported to your home, carried inside, and assembled, as needed. Your charge is a flat rate based upon delivery distance from Maine, and includes an unlimited number of pieces (a particularly good value for larger orders). For single item orders of smaller pieces, please call to inquire whether common carrier shipping is available.
