The Penobscot collection is named after the great river that runs through the center of Maine and empties into the Atlantic Ocean. Before dams were placed on the river, ocean ships could travel all the way inland to Bangor, which was the lumber export capital of the world in the 1800's, to pick up their wooden cargo. There were so many boats in the river it is said you could walk from deck to deck to cross between the two cities of Bangor and Brewer.
Our Penobscot collection, built in solid cherry, has many of the same qualities of classic built, American made furniture from that era. The pieces feature dovetailed drawers, under-mounted soft-close drawer glides and ample storage. The tops are slightly bowed with a soft undercut beveled edge. The fronts also showcase tapered shaker legs between an arched stretcher.
